Incident at Morgan's Crossing

Logline

An enigmatic, misogynistic, homophobic stranger struggles to save a small town from the ravages of a despicable and ruthless gang of outlaws.

Outline

Spanish Peter and his gang of cutthroats are terrorising the town of Morgan’s Crossing, gut shooting cowboys, raping women and turning around the bean cans in the general store so folk have to realign their shopping preferences.

The Sheriff can’t do much.  He’s under his desk most days trying to repair the Swedish furniture that the town has foisted on him.

Enter the Stranger, a man with a mission.  He has vowed to track down the Kid, a criminal of unspecified age who keeps a six gun in his diaper and likes to breast feed after killing a man.  The Sheriff persuades the Stranger to help him hunt down Spanish Peter and, seduced by the reward money, the Stranger agrees.

But there’s a complication.  Miss Nightingale, the one room schoolhouse spinster schoolteacher has fallen in love with the Stranger and wants him to settle down to a life of peace, boredom and small mindedness, the birthright of every American.

Following his seduction of Miss Nightingale, the Stranger rides the high plain in search of Spanish Peter.  The Sheriff was otherwise engaged, and unfortunately unable to accompany him.

Instead of finding Spanish Peter he finds an overturned stagecoach and a beautiful woman tied to the ground.  This is the work of the Kid.  The Kid ambushes the Stranger and the beautiful woman.  Fortunately the Stranger escapes, the beautiful woman holding off the Kid with a hail of rifle fire.

Back in Morgan’s Crossing, the Stranger devises a plan to lure Spanish Peter into town at a time of his choosing.  He then trains the townsfolk in straight shooting, unfortunately losing one of them to a ghastly accident.

When Spanish Peter returns to Morgan’s Crossing the Kid is riding with him.  Outlaws had a way of finding each other in the Old West.  The final shootout does not go exactly to plan, but the Stranger prevails.  He also overcomes his indifference to Miss Nightingale, finding true love almost as satisfactory as killing a man.

The Stranger and Miss Nightingale ride off into the distance, never to be seen again.
